Where Do They All Go?

When I got married I registered for flatware. DP and I were in agreement on the pattern, so we chose this.

Though it was interesting/odd to me that people would actually buy one piece of the flatware as a gift, I was thrilled that once it was all said and done we had a full service for eight, including the iced tea spoons (a must if you are going to live in the South). I even bought an extra four spoons at the Oneida outlet.

In addition to the Louisiana, we also received another boxed set of flatware. It had four place settings + an extra eight spoons.

Now, I am not good at math, but I can do simple addition. I started out with 24, count them, 24 teaspoons.

Today as I was about to sit down to my bowl of Fruity Cheerios with vanilla soy milk, I almost had to eat with one of these, because I could not find one clean teaspoon . . . and that would never do, not at all!

So, I'm wondering, am I the only woman around who has disappearing items from her home? Where do the spoons go? Or the socks? Or the mittens? Or . . . You fill in the blank.

I'm going to look under JD's bed. Last time I checked under there, I found an empty jar of strawberry jam . . . and . . . you guessed it, one of my teaspoons.

Have a great weekend, y'all!

I'm completely convinced that there are little elves who sneak around in the night, collecting odds and ends of things that belong in sets or pairs.

Don't forget they make great digging tools. Check the back yard. :-)

You have a great weekend too, Pam.

Or the pencils, or the food, or the remote, or the money!!?!?!! :-)

Yep, same problem here! Disappearing acts by magicians are not nearly as fascinating as they once were. We, like you, experience it daily! :-)

Our mystery disappearing act is socks. I just cannot keep up with them! If you figure out where your spoons are, though, let me know. I might check the same area in my home for my missing Tupperware!

Sanity... that's what is disappearing around here. And time. And my waistline. Sigh.

G'day from Australia

(Shhhhhhh - finger on lips) let me explain (in a stage whisper).

It's the teaspoon gremlin. He comes to our house too!!!

Keep smiling

The logical answer would be the kids, but we have an empty nest and those silly socks still seem to disappear!

My question is: how come I can always find one child's mitten but not the other one??? and we have the problem of the remote in our house like your teaspoons! Happy Hunting!

That is so funny. I was wondering the same exact thing this morning as I helped Honey B unload the dishwasher. I was literally saying "Where did all the flatware go?!". I am thinking it's time to get a new set! But not until I can find a deal! (Let me know if you see one!)

We've concluded that either Flicka is part ferret OR she lived a previous life during the Depression! LOL And, she has a thing for office and bathroom supplies! I am CONSTANTLY missing rolls of masking tape, scotch tape, craft supplies, the nail clippers, bandaids, hair "thingies", and my make-up! LOL

We lost almost every one of our Cutco steak knives.

We finally went out and bought new everyday flatware because we had such a mish mash of patterns from losing pieces and using our parents old sets to make up for it.

I'm so glad you mentioned "iced tea" spoons. We had a set of those and are down to our last 3 but never knew they actually had a name or that you could order them seperately. Our came with some kind of long dessert glasses but we used them for all kinds of stuff.

Thanks, y'all! MG, I'd love to find those elves . . . and put them to work!

I have the same brand, different pattern. I magically came across a set a few years ago and grabbed them up! More recently they have really been taking off! I discovered where they are going!!

I must admit to using paper plates whenever possible at my house. So, in the trash goes the plate, as well as the utensil!! I've caught my smallest one doing it frequently! How many times do I not catch her?
